Agricultural plastic is useful, but problematic

In rivers in Western Norway, three times as much plastic has been found from agriculture as from all other sources combined. In 2020, agriculture used over 13,875 tonnes of plastic packaging. Even though 95 per cent of this is recycled, there are still 650 tonnes that are not accounted for, and among other things pollute our watercourses. The national Forum agricultural plastic aims to gather forces to find good solutions to this problem. The forum consists of representatives from agricultural enterprises, organizations and businesses, waste disposal companies, research, education and administration. Forum agricultural plastic has been established as a new national meeting place to find solutions to this huge plastic problem. Bioregion Institute has been selected to lead the project with the County Governor of Vestland.
